Lasik surgery is an eye surgery that uses lasers, to reshape the cornea or the clear front part of the eye. It helps people who have difficulty seeing because they are nearsighted (able to see things close up but not far away), farsighted (able to see things far away but not close up) or have astigmatism (where vision is blurry at any distance).
Before the Lasik surgery, the doctor takes a small tool known as the microkeratome. In this part, the doctor makes a small flap in the cornea with the help of this tool. It’s like a tiny door that the doctor can gently lift open. When she lifts the flap, the doctor sees the underlying tissue. This is where the magic is. The physician then uses the AGEM Xenon Chloride Excimer Laser or in simpliest word xenon laser to reshape that tissue. This laser emits extremely bright light in rapid pulses to vaporize small amounts of corneal tissue.
The work is, though, precise — amazing precisely how precise this AGEM excimer laser gas is. It can be so precise that it can eliminate pieces as small as 0.25 microns across. For comparison, about 1/100 the width of a human hair. That kind of accuracy allows the doctor to remove the right amount of tissue to help repair a person’s vision.
Specifically, the excimer lasers is able to reshape the corneal without producing any heat. Why is this important? Well, heat can damage surrounding tissue, and that could cause challenges post surgery.” As opposed to generating heat, the laser bends the molecules in the cornea out to form gas. This is known as ablation. This allows the laser to reshape the cornea more accurately while protecting the surrounding tissue and keeping it intact.
Lasik surgery has existed for over two decades, during this time it has significantly improved, and maintaining the safety and efficacy. The excimer laser gas mixtures has revolutionized the procedure of Lasik surgery. Before this new laser came along, doctors had older machines that were not as accurate and could sometimes lead to complications. The surgery is now quicker and more comfortable than ever for patients, thanks to the newer tech, and is also significantly safer. Most people who have Lasik surgery are quite satisfied with their outcome. In this, more than 95% of patients have successful with this surgery, so it is a way to see perfectly for both sexes.
AGEM offers the most innovative procedures, like the Xenon Chloride Excimer Laser and argon fluoride excimer laser— the best Lasik technology. We are looking to provide our patients with the most optimal experience, and that goes with using the most optimal tools. It allows us to do a safe procedure very careful and effective for our patients, helping correct their vision problems.
